An open-source urban data platform enabling secure, consent-driven data exchange across 50+ Smart Cities in India.
A pioneering DPI developed by CDPG for the Smart Cities Mission of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), enabling secure, authenticated exchange of data among city administrations, public agencies, startups, researchers, and solution providers, with full control given to data owners.
50+ Smart Cities
Traffic management and congestion monitoring using real-time sensor and camera feeds integrated with city ICCCs.
Solid-waste management tracking (vehicle movement, bin-fill sensors) for municipal operations.
Green-corridor and emergency-vehicle routing using live traffic data.
Air- and water-quality monitoring dashboards for citizen and policymaker use.
Distributed Resource Server architecture co-developed with IIIT-Hyderabad’s Smart City Research Centre.
City-level datasets across traffic, transit (GTFS), environment (air/water quality), waste management, and public safety, published through per-city catalogues (e.g., Agra, Pimpri Chinchwad, Surat) as well as the central Catalogue Server. Most metadata is openly discoverable; actual data access is governed by each city’s consent policies.
CDPG designed and built IUDX end-to-end as the core technology partner to MoHUA’s Smart Cities Mission, and continues to operate it.
Adopted by 50+ Smart Cities; officially launched February 2021 by MoHUA and MeitY; architecture since scaled into state-level exchanges such as ADeX and MahaAgX.
