Japan’s ONESTRUCTION, IISc-backed CDPG/DataKaveri sign MoU to collaborate on integration of construction data into AI-ready urban data exchanges for cities.

BENGALURU, India — April 23, 2026: ONESTRUCTION Inc. (ONESTRUCTION株式会社), a Tottori-based construction technology company and DataKaveri Systems, the commercial entity of IISc Bengaluru’s Centre of Data for Public Good (CDPG), today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a framework for strategic and technical collaboration in the field of urban and built environment data exchange. The collaboration will combine ONESTRUCTION’s expertise in construction data with DataKaveri’s data exchange capabilities to support urban planners with high-quality, accessible, and interoperable data for more informed decision-making. 

The MoU was signed at IISc Bengaluru in the presence of representatives from Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), and India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), on the sidelines of the inaugural Japan-India AI Strategic Dialogue, a bilateral government initiative to advance cooperation in artificial intelligence and data infrastructure. 

Construction and infrastructure data represent one of the least digitised and most siloed datasets in urban environments globally. While openBIM standards such as IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) have advanced data interoperability within the construction project lifecycle, the infrastructure required to govern, exchange, and utilise that data at city and national scale has remained underdeveloped. Much of this data — including floor plans, utility layouts, and asset histories — is lost or inaccessible once a construction project closes. 

ONESTRUCTION specialises in openBIM and Data×AI×Construction workflows. Its OpenAEC Suite platform is built around IFC (Industry Foundation Classes), a globally recognised open data standard that organises construction-related data into a consistent, interoperable format — making it accessible across different software tools and stakeholders throughout a project’s entire lifecycle. 

DataKaveri provides the Intelligent Universal Data Exchange (IUDX), already deployed across 55 smart cities in India, covering urban mobility, utilities, environment, and public services. The two organisations provide complementary solutions to the same problem: structuring construction data and enabling it to be shared and used at scale. Under this MoU, ONESTRUCTION and DataKaveri will: 

• Explore integrating openBIM-based construction data (IFC-compliant) with the IUDX platform 

• Collaborate on development of AI use-cases that leverage this data for smart city and urban infrastructure scenarios 

• Jointly identify and pursue relevant bilateral funding and development opportunities
